Cyclone Carlos, 16 February 2011, Darwin, Northern
A shocking firsthand account of the havoc wreaked by Cyclone Carlos. The overnight storms and heavy winds caused two trees to come uprooted and block several roads to vast parts of a northern suburb. One of the trees lifted a whole slab of 20cm thick concrete pavement while collapsing onto a t-section, cutting off dozens of residents from the main roads. The other tree crushed a parked Holden Commodore as it landed across another suburban road.
